"No life is sacrificed for your meal." This is the mantra which adorns the space above the counter at the White Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant. For further proof of this, diners need only glance briefly at the seemingly endless vegetarian and vegan options available at this karmically inclined restaurant.
It may seem a strange premise renouncing the practice of eating meat because of a spiritual and ethical belief system, then opening a restaurant that specialises in making vegetables look and taste like meat but for chef and owner Shirley Lee, more than a decade of success is proof of her ideology's legitimacy. Lee masterfully crafts a variety of legumes and tofu into faux meat - creating a range of dishes high on taste yet low on Buddhist karmic guilt.

Dont bother
what a dissapointment! compared to other 'mock meat havens' out there, this one wasnt the best. The dishes are nothing special even just a simple plate of mixed veggies didnt taste good. Very bland and couldnt actually finish my meals (and im a guts!).

Our favourite place
We have been eating at White Lotus for over ten years. The children love the 'drumsticks' and lemon 'chicken'. For takeaway phone ahead and order to avoid the wait. For vegos and vegans White Lotus is great - if you are not into the faux meat there are plenty of alternatives such as tofu dishes. My favourites are the wontons and roast 'duck'.

White Lotus
Perfect for vegans - there are even vegan dessert options. There are not many restaurants that vegans can order any dish from! This is one of them. Try the tamarind "fish". It is one of the best dishes on the menu. Great food and service - you won't leave unsatisfied!
