One of the kings of the Essendon jungle, The Lion of India continues to deliver quality Northern and Southern Indian cuisine to loyal locals who have rip-roaring appetites. The various spice and herb combinations reflect regional Indian flavours that have travelled from generation to generation, and from east to west. This fine eatery offers plenty of these tastes for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, offering dishes like dal makhani (a black lentil curry), gosht vindaloo (a spicy lamb curry), and prawn chilli masala. The desserts present further temptation, ranging from a sizzled banana split in orange sauce to gulab jamun (sweet dumplings).
