Making a sizzling debut on the inner-city restaurant scene in December, 2008, this contemporary Japanese restaurant and bar is the place to go for a bite to eat with a little bit of heat. Already renowned as 'wagyu specialists', you'll find a huge array of choice cuts of wagyu beef to select and savour.
Located on the top end of Bourke Street, Takumi Japanese Restaurant takes the place of the old Water and Grass restaurant, offering a concept restaurant that's filled with grills - yes, each and every table has its very own charcoal grill. Diners can be their own chefs by grilling high-quality wagyu beef to perfection in this exciting, hands-on experience. For a quicker fix, the lunch menu offers a wagyu hamburger and bento boxes for those on the dash to the shops, movies or theatre.

Great fun..
Four friends and I attended this restaurant and had a great time. After recently travelling to Japan I was searching for a Japanese BBQ to match up to the standards. We ordered the banquet which comes with a few dishes and a plate of meat to cook with your guests on the BBQ in the table. Whilst not the best culinary experience of my life it was certainly good fun and created conversation amongst the group. The service for drinks was a little slow but it was understandably busy on a Saturday night. I would recommend this restaurant for a group of friends looking for something a little bit different and to have a bit of fun.

Food Free Restaurant !
The restaurant itself is interesting and quite attractive.
Unfortunately I can't comment on the food. After waiting 45 minutes for my "lunch box" I gave up and left. Life is too short !
