Growing a reputation is like growing a tree: you need sturdy foundations to maintain strength. This is true of the Melbourne theatre district's Spaghetti Tree Italian restaurant which, even after more than 25 years, remains a firm favourite with diners. Like a lot of good Italian, the fare here is unabashedly comfort food. Homemade cannelloni, lasagne and ravioli should get the tastebuds ticking, while non-pasta dishes like veal parmigiana, porterhouse steak and a warm vegetable stack entice the senses just as much. Gluten-free and vegetarian options abound, so that's one less worry for your night out on the town.
