The Near East, a spin-off of Camberwell staple Okra, specialises in chic South-East Asian cuisine. If you're in the mood for something traditional, take a seat in their dining room, which is packed with Asian antiques and decor, and try the signature oven-baked oysters or satay skewers. The Malaysian hokka-style lunch is a popular attraction on Sundays, so make sure you book ahead.

Authentic Restaurant
The food here is very authentic and fine tuned to the local tastes here but this doesn't mean you cannot request it to be the exact dish you want it to be. Put it this way, ur run away home in Melbourne. Highlighted food here include the ayam baker(grilled chicken, uniquely marinated with a fragrant turmeric smell) and the massaman beef(hybrid curry) which is absolutely fabulous. The service here is fantastic. Waiter/waitress are willing to care for your needs and are always alert for anything missing. They also make suggestion to make ur meal satisfying. Atmosphere is perfect for families and couples looking for a quiet and spacious space to dine in. Do try the home made chilli if you dine in here!

Fantastic food, especially the homemade chilli (couldn't get enough of it) had to take some away. The service was absolutely great, will definitely come back!
