The dim and mysterious facade of this old pub opens into a space that is surprisingly bright and funky. Pale blond wood lightens the darkly painted space while fascinating and ever-so-slightly-retro touches draw the eye. The menu is similarly deceptive - the presence of the usual caesar salad, curry and compulsory burger appears to conform to standard pub fare. However, dishes such as butternut pumpkin lasagne, or house-made black pepper fettuccine with smoked chicken and sun-dried tomato supplement these staples and elevate the menu above the predictable.
