Near East

This eatery offers a fusion of Asian cuisines including Thai, Indian and Malay. The decor is warm and chic with atmospheric Asian touches, and the cuisine is similarly comforting though not run-of-the-mill. The menu features familiar sounding dishes from China to the subcontinent, but the skilled execution sets them apart.

Great chill out place with family
It is always quite difficult to find a pleasant asian restaurant to dine in. Most places are too casual or too noisy. The near east restaurant was recommented to me by a friend for the celebration of my mom's birthday. The interior of the restaurant is clean and well docorated, ambience was good. I wasn't expect much from the wine list but to my amazement I could find quite a good range of wines. Entry was just fabulous, I love the calamari dish and the scallop dish. Didn't try the curry puff because there are only 2 pieves per serve, but my sister said it was tasty. We had 4 main shared among 5 of us, portions are big and definitely worth the prize, they aren't that expensive anyway. I simply love the green curry fish and the snapper! I wanted to try the laksa which the previous review says too spicy, because I love spicy food. But it is not on the menu, puzzled~~~
Service was good, water is constantly filled up and the waitress is attentive. Good place! Thumbs up,highly recommended.

Good Night Spoiled
It was an important dinner as our company host a dinner for our clients from the UK. We started the night having drinks just after work in the city and was looking forward for some Asian feast. Our company s secretary booked this venue as she s been here some years ago. We all agreed on the banquet style menu ie $45 per person.
We did not have a good start as the Sang Choi Bao (lettuce cup) with duck that is simply too dry. It followed by a Calamari dish wish is pretty ordinary that you can get from every single Chinese Take Out place. We had a bit of a break between our entrees and main which is the only nice think that happen all night. Our main consist of a Curry Fish which is nice, but the Mandarin beef and the Prawns dish was far from impressive. Again, the beef that you can get from a take away joint and the prawns in my opinion, it s simply not fresh. We did not have any desserts or coffees as I suggested having it somewhere else, (won t you) as It s obvious our clients did not enjoy their dinner.
I do not usually write reviews on restaurant. But, having being charged $45 per person and being served sub-standard food, I think they really need to pull their sock up.

Absolutely Great!!
Had dinner there last night - 5 of us shared 3 entres and 5 mains - food, service, ambience, pricing all absolutely fantastic. The salt and pepper snapper and malaysian butter prawns were the highlight, but the kung po chicken, mandarin beef and lemongrass chicken were a pretty close second!! We'll be back!! :)

This Was So So Disappointing
I went here with my bro and sister expecting a delicious meal from the reviews I had read a while ago. We left without eating even a quarter of the food. My bro had a prawn dish which is King Prawn that s way way over cooked and is just hard and chewy. My sis had a beef dish which is blend and I had the laksa which was very spicy, no coconut flavour, the chicken was tasteless - just boiled chunks of meat which tasted just like that... and that was it. Our entrees were also bland and not much to speak about. I have never seen my brother leave any food on his plate (not a fussy eater) but he ate less than i did. The service was OK, but that's because of the restaurant had only 3 tables all night.
