BEST CHINESE/VIETNAMESE IN TOWN
Minh Tan 2 has been a family favourite FOREVER. I knew it back in the day when both Minh Tan 2 and Minh Tan 3 co-existed on Victoria Street. The owner, Hong, is an absolute delight! After all these years he is still greeting his loyal customers, writing down their orders, clearing their plates with a smile on his face. You'll notice him straight away, the chubby man with white hair and a booming laugh. The food? 5 stars. Without a doubt, you'll find the most generous amounts of noodles and at least 7 wontons in your wonton noodle soup. The steamed pork buns and custard buns are also a favourite. But they pretty much fly out the door. For dinner? Go the mud crab and fresh oysters with black bean sauce! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The staff are brilliant. A mix of youngsters with energy for days and a more mature group that know me and my family on a first name basis. Minh Tan serves amazing Chinese/Vietnamese food and has loyal service without the bows and whistles that come attached when eating at fine-dining restaurants. Yet the experience is unforgettable.

great food and service
Let s get the facts straight here; this is a simple restaurant with great food. We regularly eat here once a month at least and have a great time, the food (crab noodles yum) and other fine fair. Is it the cheapest, no, is it the dearest, no but l have always had a good time with great food being served.

Yes there are other places in Victoria Street you can get cheaper and good meals, but l like this one as the food is consistently good, and so is the service.

Hey after 15 visits to this restaurant l would say mmm it pretty dam good!!!
PS going again next week!!!

A Diamond turned into a lump of Coal
This used to be a favourite spot for me and my family and used to be packed to the rafters, even on weekday nights where queues extended out onto the street.

After a year of not visiting this establishment, it is clear this restaurant has plummeted downhill.

The food was not bad, smoked duck was good, steamed barramundi fresh (but not fully descaled), rice a bit hard, chicken with cashew nut not bad and the minced beef with tofu hotpot nice. Total ~$25 pp

The service on the other hand...they snatched away our fish even before it was done and rushed to clear up our plates even before we were finished, I would've understood if there were a queue BUT it was 9pm (they close at 10.30) and there were four or five other tables available. The rice is $2.50 a head and when we asked for a little bit more rice (barely half a bowl would've been sufficient) the "lovely" waiter insisted it would be $3.50 for more rice.

Horrible place, horrible people, do not eat here!

Minh Tan
The service for this restaurant is just fantastic. There are all sorts of traditional dishes but the most amazing thing is the speed of their service. You pretty much sit down and order and the next thing you know.. with a blink of an eye your food is right in front of you. I find this wonderful for a restaurant which also serves fancy dishes. I would recommend the crab with noodles or the steamed murray cort with xo sauce.
