Little Peninsula

A mild-mannered cafe by day, this eatery has the alcoholic alter ego of a slick CBD wine bar. The decor is spare and angular with hanging lights shining on highly polished dark wood, while the menu is similarly stylish yet minimalist. The breakfast menu includes the standard eggs Benedict and bircher muesli, while the lunch menu features a small selection of panini, pastas and salads. These basic lunch staples are livened up with ingredients such as proscuitto, provolone and spinach on one of the panini, or caramelised onion, sauteed mushrooms and tomato relish on the chargrilled steak sandwich. The real draw for the truly indulgent is the wine list, which offers an admirable selection with more than a dozen varieties by the glass.

An oasis (or peninsula) in the middle of the city.
I stumbled across this lovely little place while on the way home from work one evening.

A glass of a beautiful Red Hill shiraz was followed by a taste of the fresh and amazingly good value tapas they have on offer. To top it off the patrons were extremely friendly and efficient.

I'll definitely be returning when I get the chance.
