Kum Den

For a Chinese restaurant, being popular with Chinese is always a good sign. Try the succulent braised pork with star anise or crisp-skinned chicken at Kum Den and go home satisfied. The menu is enormous and you're bound to find something (or many things) that will tickle your fancy from Canton to Sichuan and all stops in between.

What a shame
Has this place has new owners? What happened? It used to be one of my favorites but last Friday's experience was terrible. Long wait, undercooked meals, wrong dishes and staff that couldn't care.

20+ Years - I Still Love it
I've been "lunching" with family and friends at the Kum Den for over 20 years. Frankly, I refuse to eat Chinese anywhere else in the CBD. An outlay of $6 to $10 will see you served with a huge dish that will see you beyond dinner time! The fare is far different from that served in most suburban Chinese restaurants. The Singapore Fried Noodles are to die for; the Combination on Rice is superb; BBQ Pork and Bean Curd on Rice - magnificent. Lunch service is usually prompt, if not rushed, but you are never under pressure to vacate your table. The atmosphere is appropriate for the circumstances. Be prepared to experiment. A telling point for me has always been that the number of Chinese people dining has always outweighed non-Chinese. There can be no better recommendation.
