Restaurant Information
Il Tempo
Everyone knows about the Little Italy enclave of Lygon Street, but if you're stuck in the CBD and craving casual Italian food, Il Tempo is often touted as the numero uno destination. Hidden away behind Flinders Lane, the eatery occupies a dimly lit bistro-style space with flowerboxes on its windowsills and a quaint European atmosphere. Tables edge out over bustling Degraves Street, luring curious passersby during the busy lunch hour. The menu is a celebration of the pleasures of eating, with the simple and homely meals ranging from seasonal soups to homemade gnocchi, lasagne, gourmet open burgers and T-Bone steaks. Il Tempo is most famed for its delicious range of specialty bruschetta, stuffed with meat, seafood and vegetable concoctions. Try the crudo, packed with prosciutto and brie cheese; or a pizza-style pepperoni bruschetta, which spills grilled capsicums, tomato, mozzarella and olive oil from a base of fresh crusty bread.

Simply the best
My partner and I stumbled upon Il Tempo during a holiday to Melbourne in September, 2006. From that time until now, every time we come to Melbourne, we make a point of eating at Il Tempo. Great atmosphere, relaxed and efficient service, superb food; a truly cosmopolitan, stylish place to unwind, to relax and to enjoy the good things in life. We have our favourites in other places - New York, London, Brisbane, etc. Il Tempo has that designation when we're in Melbourne. If you're in Melbourne and want a memorable, value-for-money experience, give Il Tempo a go. You'll be glad that you did. Buon apetito!
