Overrated and overpriced
We chose to take an interstate guest to Grossi Grill for dinner last Friday night, sadly we all left disappointed. We were seated immediately in the middle of the very noisy room. Our drinks order was taken immediately - my drink arrived within minutes, my two friends had to ask twice for theirs over the next 15 minutes.
Orders were placed and food arrived promptly - the brains were delicious and my friends enjoyed their pasta and tripe. Ordering wine was a challenge; waiting staff were asked for a recommendation for a wine to go with lobster tortellini and were advised probably a white wine . A restaurant such as this should have staff with a much better knowledge of wines. Likewise, pouring sparkling water into a still water glass is also unacceptable.
Mains also arrived promptly, I enjoyed my lamb cutlets but the serving size was small. My friends were excited to be sharing a $100 piece of wagyu but ended up being very disappointed with what should have been a gorgeous piece of meat. The requested medium rare came out as charcoal black on the outside and raw on the inside. When they gave feedback to the waiting staff they were told it could be put back on the grill, not sure how that could have helped a burned outside.
Dessert was pleasant, although the fact that my friend s dessert wine arrived a good 10 minutes after he had finished eating his dessert was also unacceptable
All in all, the food was OK (well, mine was) and the service was sub standard for a restaurant of this calibre. We will not return

Still the best
I ate here four years ago. I still remember it as the best Italian meal I've eaten anywhere outside Italy. Book ahead and go when it will be full, get crammed in, order a few bottles of red.
You will feel like you're in Italy. Amazing.

I want more Fois Gras!
The Grill is one Grossi Florentino's newest extensions to the elegant restaurant upstairs, but nonetheless exciting and thrilling. We were fortunate in getting a table for three as we booked on the day; which meant we had a certain period to experience first hand true Italian cuisine. Originally we had intended to book upstairs, but being on the day and all, we were redirected to The Grill. The service was impeccable: we were warmly greeted and escorted into a warmly lit, spacious room with stunning dark timber floors where the usual bangs and sizzles came from the open format kitchen adding to the exciting atmosphere as we nibbled our grissini sticks.
The waiter was extremely knowledgeable as we inquired about the dishes from upstairs, to our surprise and thrill, we were offered the menu from upstairs bound in black leather. We opted to skip entrees to go all out on mains and dessert. I had the Wagyu ox fillet Rossini with foie gras, Madeira sauce, roasted vegetables which was every morsel succulent and tender - though I wouldn't have minded a thicker slab of fois gras though that too would have probably made the bill even higher.
Me, being a chocolate fanatic, couldn't go past the famous Valrhona chocolate souffle with malt ice cream and chocolate syrup; the souffle was lovely and light, though once the chocolate syrup shot had been added and saturated through the voluptuous souffle, the experience had been taken onto a whole new level (P.S. When you’re trying to scrape every morsel of the souffle out of the dish, remember that it just came straight out of the oven and is still extremely hot! Something no one had told me!) Apart from that a terrific night out!
