Going on name alone, you could be forgiven for assuming this new cafe in Bendigo's burgeoning laneway set is a rather poor imitation of Spanish culture by some guy named Gordon. In fact, El Gordo means "the fat one" in Spanish, and it's this interpretation that sees this new cafe attempt to bring a little slice of Madrid to the Bendigo CBD.
Channelling the laneway culture of Melbourne with a side of Europe thrown in for good measure, El Gordo's decadent vibe is a welcome addition to the Bendigo set. Head here when a little bit of decadence is in order.
