Chilli Padi Melbourne Central

Catering to every possible taste and budget, this restaurant features an extensive variety of Asian meals, including noodles, soups, hawker-style dishes and dumplings. The black pepper shaved beef is one of the pricier options on the menu, while the laksas and noodles are surprisingly cheap. Wines can accordingly be tailored by price, from the standard house red to Australian premiums such as the 1998 Henschke Mt Edelstone. The dessert menu is equally pleasing, with a green tea tiramisu offering a playful twist on an old Italian recipe.

Great for lunch great for dinner
We usually only come here for lunch but recently we had a departmental farewell dinner here and instead of the individual noodles and rice dishes we had their sharing mains and there was great variety of choices and everything was delicious.

Only negative was the lack of dessert choices and the sound system wasn't working.

Banquet please
Went as a big group from work and we were "encouraged" to order the banquet and glad we did. Food was sublime and sharing meals was good for all even for my vego friend. Plenting to choose for drinks as well and my Indian mates were impressed they even stock Kingfisher beer. Floorboards were a bit noisy otherwise whole place was buzzing busy and had a good vibe.

Hot Spice and Everything Nice
Not sure if its the winter cold but everything we ordered tasted fantastic. Not all dishes were spicy and surprisingly love the silky braised tofu (not a tofu fan normally) but my favourites were the Sambal whole fish and Red duck curry and Crispy Oates Prawns. Had a few Kirin beers to put out the fire!

Best Nasi Lemak in Melbourne Central!!
Went there a week ago. Not that easy to find if you go through the Melbourne Central Shopping Centre. It is easier to just walk to the corner of Elizabeth Street and Little Lonsdale Street and you will find it.

Had nasi lemak and my friend ordered a curry laksa. I have to say the food is amazing. The interior deco is quite unique with the Chilli girl photo everywhere. Even though the servive is nothing to shout about, but I'll definetly bring my parents to the restaurant again when they visit next month.

Oh yah, apparently they have a different concept after 10pm .... i think they called it Chilli Malam. Is a Malaysian Hawker sytle / mamak type of concept where the service is very casual and there is no table service. Chilli Malam offer a different selection of Malaysian food from Chillipadi (during the day time). Is a bit confussing ... but might try it out after clubbing this coming sat :-)

Absolutely Disgusting
Went there for a very late night supper/dinner.

Waiters/Waitresses couldn't speak English, and looked like they were all hired that day,

about 10 people of us, prices were ok, but China Bar is cheaper and better.

Ordered food, we all had to wait between 1.5hours and 2 hours, everytime we asked the same response "its coming"
I hate being lied to, and you can tell when somebody doesn't know something and tells you a standard line.

I was about to put my $10-$15 down and leave because I couldn't wait. The food came out on a plastic plate, no apology, no nothing.

it wasn't even crowded, maybe about 40% full, and at the end they said "oh 10% surcharge for public holidays" I simply said, you want to charge 10% service charge for something you didn't offer!?"

lucky they didn't say "oh its coming"

if nothing else is open, then go there, if you are taking a girlfriend/boyfriend there, consider it your last date with them!

Mediocre
Mediocre food. Ordered chicken rice and hor fun. The rice was cold and not very well flavoured. The hor fun sauce was too starchy and tasteless.

Portion size was ok but $3 for a cup of teh terik served in a tiny cup is a rip off. And they don't even serve water.
