The new venture from chef Simon Arkless (ex-Comme) and his business partners, Chester White is Hawthorn's newest big-name dining destination. The menu is full of contemporary, Spanish and French-influenced dishes, with plenty of Arkless's favourite meat: pork. The space (previously occupied by Canvas) boasts a huge decking area and has the look and feel of a neighbourhood bistro, so it's casual and approachable, and not too up-market to bring the family and settle in for a meal. In fact, children are encouraged, with iPads provided for them to play with.
