An all-round favourite for traditional hawker-style Malaysian cuisine and offering some of the best Assam laksa in Melbourne, Ampang Tofu (named for a district in Kuala Lumpur) has been a well-kept secret by its fans over the years, but the secret seems to be getting out. It may not be much to look at and it may be an "in, eat, out" kind of vibe, but you'll soon see why the queue often stretches out the door these days. Regulars love it for its consistently good, authentic Malaysian food, particularly the yang tofu, aforementioned laksas and shui glow dumplings.
