Papa Goose
Featured Restaurant
Papa Goose Melbourne The new venture of acclaimed chef Neale White, formerly of Pure South at Southbank and Harvest Home at Avenel, Papa Goose aims to provide Melburnians with a casual, not-too-steep fine dining option in this lively corner of the city - with a bar attached, of course. Papa Goose sprawls over two levels on the corner of Flinders Lane and Duckboard Place, with the restaurant on the ground floor and the bar, Loose Goose, on the first floor along with two private dining rooms. Modern, airy and light, the atmosphere is approachable and friendly with warm service and relaxed approach to serious food. The menu showcases White's considerable skills and experience, with a short, confident menu composed of such mod-Oz dishes as the spiced venison with chestnut, parsnip, pomegranate, parsley, red cabbage and raisins and the potato gnocchi with Jerusalem artichokes, mushrooms, porcini dust and truffle oil. more

Highlights
Bar Humbug Melbourne
Bar Humbug The entrance to this little contemporary bar bistro is fairly inconspicuous, but behind the unobtrusive shopfront lies a great little trendy locals' bar.

Fenix Richmond
Fenix Just 10 minutes from the Melbourne CBD, this sophisticated diner enjoys an uncommonly tranquil spot perched above the Yarra River.

Southpaw Fitzroy
Southpaw Grandma's out of town and her crib has been taken over for the party of the century; at least, that's the look they seem to be going for at this funky bar and diner.

Great Northern Hotel Carlton North
Great Northern Hotel Melbourne, like England, has a preoccupation with pubs. Done up, run down, sticky carpets or filthy bar mats, there's a plethora of venues you can choose from and more than likely you have a handful to choose from within a five-minute stagger from your house. The Great Northern Hotel, located on the leafy, picturesque Rathdowne Street, is thankfully one of those more done-up pubs, and has been serving up food and drinks to Carlton locals since the late 1800s.
